This project aim to resolve the human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka and is already going a long way toward raising the tolerance of farmers toward the elephants, by actually compensating them for damage to their crops. As the elephant is seen more and more as an economic asset and less as a nuisance or threat, the people themselves will not want to see it disappear from their midst.

The Elephant Story was formed to promote elephant conservation in Asian elephant countries, most notably Thailand. The objective is to increase the awareness of the plight of what has become an endangered species given the deforestation in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.

Various elephant conservation groups are focused on removing elephants from exploitation in the streets of major cities to return them to a more natural habitat. In conjunction with this effort, net profits from The Elephant Story will be directed to various Asian elephant support foundations.

The Curious Elephant project was started when a love of elephants encouraged a few homemade baby gifts. Once the founders of The Curious Elephant learned about the brutal ivory trade in Africa, they decided to open up shop to help spread awareness and raise money for an orphanage that rescues infant elephants who have been orphaned as a result of the ivory trade.

They make handmade baby goods and stuffed animals for a good cause. All items are handmade in a pet-free, smoke-free home and a portion of the proceeds are donated to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
